Inspired by the newly released film Colette starring Keira Knightley I decided to do a Victorian-styled photoshoot back in February using some of the costumes I have in my studio. Historical-themed images are always popular with the Trevillion and Arcangel book cover stock agencies so hoped the shoot woudl yield some welcome additions to my portfolios with both agencies. I asked my lovely, model and performer friend Estelle Long if she would be interested in modelling for the shoot and I was delighted when she jumped at the chance.
We decided to use Cromer Pier as the location for the shoot as the current pier dates form 1901. Little did we know that the day of the shoot fell in the school half-term holiday - so we arrived to find the pier absolutely packed with parents and children enjoying the unseasonal warm and sunny weather and major parts of the pier covered in scaffolding for renovation work before the start of the season.
Nevertheless we persevered - shooting between the crowds avoiding the scaffolding and paint pots - and managed to get some really good images.
